Den Planet team was privileged to share in discussion with a community women group on the celebration theme: Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.
There is need for the complete integration of women and girls in every sector, so they can contribute to nations building and not just be consumers. This has to start with educating both boys and girls alike and giving them equal opportunities. Women need to take on more leadership roles political and non-political so as to contribute greatly in policy development and implementations. Women need support and encouragement in most communities if they have to come out of their shells after being relegated for so long.
The women of Momo from the NW of Cameroon were enlightened on critical gender bias being practiced in homes and communities and the repercussions on the family and the society at large. Our discussion extended to the contributions women can make towards combating climate change.
