Den Planet recently participated in the National Forum on the Management of Urban Waste Resources in Cameroon, attending under the Youth Network for Climate Action (YONECA). The two-day forum brought together government ministries, entrepreneurs, and civil society organizations to address the growing waste crisis affecting major cities such as Yaoundé and Douala.
Cameroon continues to face severe challenges in waste management, resulting in polluted neighborhoods and public health risks. Government officials reaffirmed their commitment to improving systems and strengthening the circular economy. Participants highlighted current gaps, including limited recycling capacity, poor waste collection structures, and a lack of large-scale investment.
One of the key recommendations was the need for more investors in green businesses. Incentives, subsidies, and supportive policies are essential to expand recycling and waste transformation across the country. With the right regulatory environment and community engagement, Cameroon can significantly improve waste management from households to industries.
Den Planet stands ready to work with policymakers, civil society actors, and investors to advance green enterprise solutions and support sustainable waste management initiatives nationwide.
