World Biological Diversity Day 2025 — Harmony With Nature and Sustainable Development

Many pupils and students in Cameroon learn environmental science only through theory, and when it comes to real-world application, they struggle. A major reason is our curricula, which often limit learning to the classroom. True understanding of biodiversity requires hands-on exposure. Learners need to step into forests, rivers, zoos, swamps, fields, and natural habitats to observe, identify, and connect with the living world. Only then can they truly appreciate nature.

As we observe World Biological Diversity Day 2025, under the theme Harmony With Nature and Sustainable Development, Den Planet calls on all stakeholders to protect Earth’s biological systems from both human activities and natural pressures.

Why are our zoos poorly maintained?
Why do forests disappear with no second thought?
Why are our waters polluted beyond recognition?
How can we talk about sustainability yet ignore future generations?

At Den Planet, we are committed to shifting this narrative. We engage youth through hands-on environmental training, outdoor learning experiences, and direct exposure to nature. And this year, we are excited to introduce wildlife art as a powerful tool for education and advocacy. Through drawing, painting, and creative expression, young people can connect emotionally with wildlife, learn species recognition, and gain a deeper sense of responsibility for conservation.

Art has the power to open hearts, and protect habitats.

Together, let us rebuild harmony with nature and inspire a generation that values and safeguards biodiversity.
